Description

A New York Times Bestseller!

Poppy, the adorable, persistent, dreaming-big pig, has a new adventure in store for her: the World Games ice-skating championship in Paris!

Poppy is nervous about meeting so many new people in a new place. But, ever courageous and supported by her family (Emma, too!), Poppy embarks upon this exciting adventure head-on. She meets a snowboarding Panda, a Maltese who skies, and two fellow skaters, a Crane and a Kangaroo. Poppy begins to realize that although these animals look different, act different, and are from different places, they are all the same at heart. They all smile in the same language!

Praise for It's a Big World, Little Pig!

"What a wonderful juvenile fiction story! I can hardly wait to share It’s a Big World with my grandbaby. The sequel is as good as its inspiration. Its heroine is every little girl. Its play on words is delightful. Its positive messages on universality and diversity are
ageless." — Here and There

"This book is adorable! The story is sweet and the illustrations are completely cute. A great book to share with children." — Adrienne’s Book Blog

"Another sweet confection..." — Kirkus Reviews

"One thing I appreciate from the two books is the way Yamaguchi conveys that in order to be really good at something you have to practice and work hard, but that it’s OK to try a few things before you find a good fit. " — A Spirited Mind

"Yamaguchi’s linear story and message of "always dream," the name of her foundation, will not be lost on even the smallest listener. Tim Bowers’ flashy, energized illustrations add light humor to the text where children will wonder what Poppy Pig’s next big dream will be." — Deseret News

"The encouragement within these pages is great and I’m delighted that Kristi is writing such stories to share." — Creative Madness Mama

"Appropriate for ages 4 and up, this picture book features colorful, silly animal-athletes with an upbeat message." — Nichi Bei

"My 6 year old daughter and I read this together. We both loved it. This is a great encouraging read for young children." — Wanted Readers

"Kristi Yamaguchi's first bestselling children's book, Dream Big, Little Pig is followed by a second installment featuring figure skater Poppy in It's a Big World, Little Pig. Tim Bowers' illustrations are finely-drawn definitions of the animal characters, perfectly catching their expressions in bright and airy colors." — Book Loons

"Introduced in last year’s bestselling, award-winning Dream Big, Little Pig!, tenacious little Poppy did just that and proved that pigs can indeed fly … especially on the ice! Her creator, of course, is the legendary skater Kristi Yamaguchi (whose skates and skating dress have found a home in the Smithsonian – click here to check out those Olympian boots, click here to see her dress). Once again, illustrator Tim Bowers imbues Poppy with charming energy to spare ..." — Book Dragon

"The illustrations are beautiful and I liked the positive message that each character brings – to dream big and always follow your heart – and I love Kiyomi’s outfit! While we’re all just a little different, we all smile in the same language." — Emmegail’s Bookshelf

"It’s a wonderful story about facing your fears, pursuing your dreams and learning to accept others along the way. " — The Mama Zone

"This is the second book in the Little Pig series by Kristi... I am excited to see where this continues, as I loved this one!" — Jumpin’ Beans

"The book teaches a good lesson that we all look different, but everyone smiles in the same language. The illustrations are adorable, and my daughter, a girly girl preschooler, loved the skating theme." — Motherhood Moment

"This book was a huge hit with my girls...We loved how the story told us a few different ways to say hello in different languages...What makes it even better is that 100% of the profit is donated to a literacy foundation! I love when celebrities use their fame and talent to help make a difference in the lives of others. " — A Mom’s Take

"Will delight small fans of ice skating and those who like colorful pictures with animals...parents and children will enjoy it together. " — Jean Little Library

"A delightful tale of perseverance. I shared this with my two daughters, 4 and 7, and they thoroughly enjoyed the story." — Linda Sawyer

"Poppy makes a wonderful character in the story, and there are so many different lessons and thoughts one can glean from Poppy's adventures! " — Glimpse

"I'm usually a bit skeptical of celebrity authors because writing a good children's book seems easy but is actually quite difficult. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The central message of the book is we all smile in the same language, as we see Poppy make friends from different countries at the Games." — Salt & Nectar

"I would definitely recommend this fun story to anyone out there with big dreams. This book is well-written, beautifully illustrated, and is sure to become a fast favorite. My daughter loves It's a Big World, Little Pig, and hopefully this story will help her to face her fears and gain confidence as she grows and develops dreams of her own! " — Newly Crunchy Mama of 3

"I read this book to my daughters the other night and ever since they have been asking me to read it over and over again. I have to say as a parent I have no problem with this as the messages contained within are ones that I want my daughters to learn and to live on a daily basis. This was a great book that I highly recommend!" — Dad of Divas

"Accompanied by cheerful illustrations of Poppy happily skating and interacting with her friends from other countries, the book emphasizes the intangible rewards of taking on challenges and learning about the world rather than winning." — School Library Journal

"As a parent, I love this book and how Kristi Yamaguchi helps to show that fears are normal when you do something new and different...The educator in me adores how this book could convert to many teachable moments with older children. " — The Angel Forever

" Her new book is – as expected – equally adorable to her first book...Classy Mommy Approved!" — Classy Mommy

"This ranks as one of the best kids book I’ve read in a long time. There are just so many great messages in It’s a Big World, Little Pig! I can definitely see Kristi channeling some of her own personal experiences into this book." — Lisa Reviews

"Sounds so cute! And the best part is that 100% of the proceeds from the book will benefit early childhood literacy programs supported by Kristi's "Always Dream" Foundation.

Very, very impressive." — Perezitos

"It seems like wherever Poppy goes though, she seems to inspire everyone!!" — OKC Mommy

"It's a Big World Little Pig is simply a charming story that is beautifully illustrated by Tim Bowers. I loved the illustrations just as much as the story itself. I always found Kristi Yamaguchi's performances on ice to be amazing to watch, and I get that same warm feeling reading her novel. There's a strong message about overcoming fear that will benefit children too...It's definitely a book to add to your shelves." — Roundtable Reviews

"The story is just so empowering and delivers this wonderful message abut overcoming your fears, which is great inspiration for children." — Media Mikes

"Like the first book in the series, It’s a Big World, Little Pig! is a beautifully illustrated book with an important message, and your children will love to read this one over and over again with Mom or Dad! Also, I think it's commendable that one hundred percent of Kristi's profits from It's a Big World, Little Pig! will benefit early childhood literacy programs through her Always Dream Foundation." — Grandma’s Briefs

"I think I enjoyed this book more than the original Poppy story, Dream Big, Little Pig! Maybe it's because the background world is so developed; Poppy shares the spotlight with a number of other athletes from around the world. Maybe it's because the message is less on "I want to be a star!" and more on how great it is to make friends. " — Crowding the Book Truck

"It will be a nice addition to our book collection and perfect for winter themes and talks about the Olympics. " — Mom Vs. The Boys

"This book is adorable and teaches a great lesson. The illustrations are bright and fun. My son enjoyed all the colors and great illustrations. I love that it is hard cover and can withstand my two year old’s rough way of reading books." — The IE Mommy
