We Begin at the End
By: Chris Whitaker
What a memorable and haunting book!
The unbelievably picturesque language that one not only sees but feels in one’s mind (“Thunderheads formed like gathered mistakes…”).
The nuggets of knowledge we learn, along with Duchess (“…the triangle was the strongest shape.”).
The many references to, “We begin at the end,” in various circumstances and from various voices.
On the surface, it seems to be an impossibly implausible story, but, is it really? Is it possible you know someone (or at least, know about) someone with a similar story?
This story of a small town, broken people, and searching for redemption will grip you like few others and keep you pondering for some time to come. Perhaps, a second read is necessary?
