Diane’s Rating

This is the most imaginative and charming book I have read in a very long time.  It is historical fiction, and tells the behind-the-scenes story of the creation of the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis.  The premise is that a young woman, whose much younger brother has a terminal illness, falls in love with the series, devours them all, and implores his sister to find the origin story behind the books since she is a student at Oxford, where the author, C.S. Lewis teaches.

As the story unwinds, we became as anxious as the brother to learn the inspiration for this tale.  Along the way, we become as enchanted as he is—but it’s a fight against time.

Ms. Callahan, as always in her historical fiction, has done a thorough research of C.S. Lewis, himself, and the setting in which the books were written, tying it all together using her own brilliant imagination.  This is a must-read for fans of sweet and uplifting historical fiction.  Preorder today from Eagle Eye!
