Preet’s Rating

This book is one of my favorites of this year. I'm always surprised more romance readers don't know about it. I discovered it via a graphic with a quote from a 1-star review the author got and it made me laugh so much. I was not disappointed when I started reading it! There's so much to love!

You've got two people who are polar opposites in personality, both focused on making their dreams come true clashing spectacularly. I loved the dual point of view, letting us into astronaut Regina "Reggie" Hayes' and actor Jon Leo's minds. The last place and thing Reggie wants to do is deal with Jon, and while Jon is extremely excited and eager to be where he is, he's afraid of making mistakes and screwing things up. Of course they're instantly attracted to each other.

The Astronaut and The Star has moments of deep wit, and such delicious longing and yearning-making for such a wonderful slow burn romance. There's great banter, not just between Reggie and Leo, but also their co-workers and friends. I love the inclusion of science and knowledge, reminding me of why I was fascinated by the stars and wanted to be an astronaut myself when I was little. Lastly, I won't spoil anything, but the plot is *chef's kiss*.

It's hard to believe this is Jen Comfort's first book, but I hope you love it as much as I did!
