I often am not able to write my thoughts on books I finish right away. I read this book at the end of April, on the 30th and finished it on the first of May. I stayed up late, like REALLY late, to finish it, the first time in a long time. I knew I would pay for it the next day, but the story had it's talons in me and I could not sleep without knowing what happened at the end. This book left a hole in my heart and head and I know I will need to wait another year to find out what happens next.
Laura Sebastian is a brilliant story-teller. I had no idea when I started the book what was in store for me, so cannily did she weave the tale. I loved how tightly knit Daphne, Sophronia, and Beatriz are. They might be triplets, but each has an individual personality that is undeniable. I loved how each had their own point of view and how even though they were loyal to the plan, they were loyal to each other first. I don't want to give too much away, but I was blindsided by the ending and even though my heart still hurts to think about what happened, I am looking forward to reading more about these sisters and how they change the world and lands they live in.
I am the most taken aback by Laura Sebastian, as this is the first book I've read by her, and I realize I've been sleeping on how talented she is. I will definitely be adding her backlist to my tbr!
