*Fans self* Dating Dr. Dil was everything I was hoping it would be! It's not an easy task to adapt Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, but Nisha Sharma makes a modern day version of it possible and believable. I love that she takes elements from the classic but keeps it fresh and modern. I absolutely loved the Punjabi and Indian representation. I also love how Nisha didn't shy away from addressing a lot of issues the community faces when it comes to sexism, marriage, and love. I really appreciated how familial toxicity was showcased, as was found family and how sometimes it isn't easy to leave the ones who hurt you. Lastly I can't tell you how excited I was that the amazing chemistry between Kareena and Prem manifested on the page! I mean they sizzled and I had my fingers crossed we wouldn't be shut out of the bedroom or wherever things finally boiled over, and we were not! Not to mention I absolutely loved Kareena's Aunties, not just for their names and who they represent, but also for how they mostly used their evil powers for good. I also loved Kareena's besties who are ride or die and Prem's BFFs who are also not too shabby. I am really hoping for more Bunty and Bobbi and Veera and Deepak. Hopefully they get their own books. |
